Arborway Committee Applauds DEP Decision to Require Green Line Restoration

The Arborway Committee applauds the decision by Environmental Secretary Bob Durand and the Department of Environmental Protection requiring the restoration of MBTA Green Line service to the Arborway in Jamaica Plain. The decision makes a progressive and important statement not only about the role of public transit in the Commonwealth, but also about environmental justice for urban neighborhoods.

Further, the Arborway Committee is convinced that the MBTA has the professional competence and the technical expertise to move forward with the restoration of service. By this decision the T is in position to make the Arborway Green Line a national model of urban public transportation planning and execution.

The Arborway Committee pledges to work with the Department of Environmental Protection, the MBTA, and the City of Boston to bring to fruition the resumption of Green Line service. For Jamaica Plain as well as the Back Bay and Beacon Hill, the Green Line promises better transit, a cleaner environment, and a more livable city.
