March 30, 2026 - Approximately every five years the MBTA reviews its long term capital plan, called the Program for Mass Transportation or PMT. The T has named the current review cycle Focus 2050. Focus 2050 provides a framework for the MBTA, MassDOT, and policymakers to plan for the future, prioritizing investments that deliver safe, reliable, and accessible transportation.
Public input is being sought for Focus 2050 through in-person and virtual meetings, email, and outreach tables at various MBTA stations.
A recording of the first Focus 2050 public outreach meeting from March 18 is here. Upcoming in-person public input meetings are on April 15 at La Colaborativa in Chelsea and May 7 at Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) in Boston. See the MBTAs Focus 2050 website at https://www.mbta.com/projects/planning-the-future-the-mbta for details. The ACPT encourages the public take advantage of this opportunity to influence the T's future direction.
